LWML stand for "Luther Women's Missionary League." The LWML is a ministry of the LC-MS that assists numerous ministries throughout the world. The foundation of the LWML women’s program is the Mite Box, a reference to the Biblical account of the widow's mite (Luke 21:1– 4). The little Mite Boxes hold loose change, dollar bills, and checks. These offerings go above and beyond the support given to congregations. Each month, Mite offerings are collected to fund district mission projects — from quilts for children, to new windows for elementary schools, to braille booklets, to working with seniors — these kinds of projects work to brighten people’s lives as well as show Christian love and care.

Exciting things are happening at First Step, Roseville Road. The facility is operated by First Step Communities in partnership with the City of Sacramento. Pallet homes and trailers shelter over 100 people who work with social workers and others to find their way to housing and a job.
Greenhaven Lutheran Church holds a Bible study on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month at the Roseville Road campus. The church also collects clothing, blankets, and other items for First Step residents. Both men and women are thankful to receive items for the winter weather — sweaters, coats, hats and always underwear. |
